Crowbar-Wielding Masked Man Steals Cash Register From Holiday Inn Hotel

The robbery happened around 11:40 p.m. Friday at a Holiday Inn Express in Mission Hills

A man wearing a white mask and wielding a crowbar robbed a Holiday Inn Express hotel overnight in San Diego, stealing the cash register as an employee ran to safety. 

The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) said that around 11:40 p.m., an unknown man entered a Holiday Inn Express located at 1955 San Diego Avenue in Mission Hills, near Old Town San Diego. Carrying a crowbar, the man told an employee this was a robbery.

The employee ran down a hallway, police said, while the suspect ripped out the cash register. The suspect then ran out of the front door to the hotel.

Officers were not able to immediately locate the suspect. He’s described as 5-foot-9, approximately 160 pounds and between 40 and 50 years old. The SDPD said the man wore a white mask, black shirt, gray shorts and white shoes at the time of the crime.

No one was injured.
