On the Road Again

Abandoned puppy found on Route 66

"Highway," a puppy abandoned on Route 66, is ready to ready to put down some roots.

The dog's owner abandoned him at a fruit stand in Kingman, Ariz. Highway waited for his owner for two days -- that's 48 hours more than we would have.

Now, the pup's made it all the way to the Helen Woodward Animal Center in Rancho Santa Fe.

"It's hard to believe that anyone could take an innocent little puppy and dump it out, much less leaving it along a highway as busy as Route 66," said LaBeth Thompson, the center's adoption manager. "That’s practically a death sentence for a curious puppy.”

Highway will be put up for adoption on Friday.
