High Speed Chase Halts in San Diego

A high speed chase ended in San Diego Friday afternoon after a man and women stole a car in Orange County, according to officials.

California Highway Patrol said the suspects were chased from Orange County into San Diego for 40 minutes.

The driver is was heading southbound and traveled between 80-120 mph before police used spikes to stop the car. Shortly after, the couple surrendered.

A female suspect arrested at the scene told officers she didn't intend to do it. The man was also arrested. Both people appeared to be in their 30s.

Traffic backed up on southbound I-805 while police search the vehicle.

No one was injured during the chase, though a civilian driver blew out a tire when the spike strip was used.
