Out of more than 1000 names, the Park has narrowed it down to three choices:
- Emanti - a word that means "water" in SiSwati, because the new calf loves playing in water
- Usutu - which is a large river in Swaziland
- Mnakabo - a word that means "their brother" in SiSwati
The herd keeper's selected names that had special meaning for the herd.
The park says the herd has doubled in size since the eight adults were rescued seven years ago from Swaziland, a small country in southern Africa. The herd now has eight youngsters ranging in age from three months to six years.
Voting is from Monday, August 9 through Thursday, August 12. The most popular name will be announced Thursday, August 26 at the Park's elephant exhibit.
