He Set His Home on Fire: Deputies

A man is behind bars after deputies say he allegedly set his Fallbrook home on fire.

When firefighters arrived at a home in the 2900 block of Via Del Robles, they told deputies there was a suspicious man lurking in the area, the North County Times reports.

Jade Taylor, 27, was taken into custody at 10:39 p.m., according to deputies.

The man's wife, whose name was not released, told deputies the couple had an argument earlier in the evening, Lt. Robert Haley told the NCT. She had left the house and later received a call from Taylor who allegedly told her that he had set the house on fire, Lt. Haley said.

It took 14 firefighters about a half-hour to get the fire under control, said John Buchanan, a spokesman for the North County Fire Protection District. The home, estimated to be worth more than $300,000, was completely destroyed, Buchanan told the paper.

Fire personnel and investigators with the sheriff's bomb and arson unit were on the scene of the home Monday morning investigating the fire, Haley said.

Taylor is being held in the Vista jail on $150,000 bail.
