Happy CPR Saturday

Prepare to save a life — for free.

The American Red Cross is hosting CPR Saturday in downtown on Saturday, a 20th annual event that, for the first time, is offering two-year CPR certification.

Adult sessions, which each last about 3 1/2 hours and, in past years, only allowed for one-year certification, begin on the hour from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the San Diego Concourse's Golden Hall at 202 C Street.

Advance registration is not required, but arriving at the building 30 minutes before the desired session is "strongly recommended," according to the American Red Cross's website.

All training is free, and donations are accepted.

The American Red Cross will also hold a blood drive at the site and offer safety training and games for children between ages 5 and 11.
