Local Foster Parents Honored at Banquet

The County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency held their annual Foster Parent Appreciation Banquet Friday night

The County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) honored local foster parents Friday evening with a special celebration.

The HHSA hosted their 51st Annual Foster Parent Appreciation Banquet for more than 150 dedicated foster families at the Courtyard by the Marriot on Laning Road.

The banquet included an awards ceremony for parents with categories such as “Foster Parent of the Year” and the “Adoptions Award.”

There was also a special “Options Award” given out to foster parents who care for drug-exposed and medically-fragile infants and “Longterm Service” awards presented to several families, including a foster mother who has cared for foster children for 35 years.

According to the HHSA, there are approximately 1,600 licensed foster families caring for more than 800 abused and neglected children in San Diego County.
