Students at two city heights elementary schools were forced inside classrooms Friday afternoon after reports of gunfire in the neighborhood, according to police.
911 operators got a rash of calls about the gunshots around 1:30 p.m., police said. Callers said there were two gangs opening fire on each other in an alley.
Euclid Elementary and Ybarra Elementary were locked down for about an hour.
Police now say the gunshot sounds could have come from toy weapons.
