Guilty Plea in Case of La Mesa Mayor's Big Night Out

City finance official accepts deal after arrested for being drunk behind wheel

The city finance employee found slumped behind the wheel of La Mesa Mayor Art Madrid's sport utility vehicle earlier this year has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor reckless driving.

The mayor was drunk on the sidewalk when officers responding to a 911 call found Trisha Turner in Madrid's SUV on Feb. 20. They had been drinking in a bar and were heading home.

Turner's lawyer Michael Richmond entered the plea on behalf of his 34-year-old client Thursday and the judge fined Turner $820 and placed her on two years' probation.

Turner wasn't available for comment and Madrid says he won't discuss the incident.
