Guard Not Charged in Transit Center Shooting

The transit guard who shot and killed a 21-year-old Oceanside man during a fight at the Vista Transit Center last fall will not be charged with a crime, the San Diego County district attorney's office told the North County Times.

Sam Tavallodi of Corona, 30, was a contracted security guard for the North County Transit District at the time of the Sept. 11, 2009, shooting. He fired twice at Anthony Wacker after the two argued and then got into a fight, sheriff's officials said at the time.

Tavallodi no longer works on NCTD property and will not be assigned to any district property in the future, the district's executive director Matt Tucker told the paper. The publicly funded district owns North County's Breeze buses and Sprinter and Coaster trains.
