Officials broke ground on a project that will bring two new playgrounds, accessibility upgrades and more to a San Ysidro playground.
Larsen Park, located at 455 Sycamore Road in San Ysidro, will undergo a multi-month construction project that will improve the park's facilities.
Residents will soon see improvements to the park's accessibility, including grading and paving parts of the park.
In addition, there two new play structures will be added with safety surfacing, a concrete baseball player's dugout, ball field fencing, benches, picnic tables, a drinking fountain, landscaping, irrigation and drainage.
Councilmember David Alvarez, Andrew Field, Assistant Park and Recreation Director, Mark Nassar, Deputy Director, Public Works Department, and community members came out to celebrate the groundbreaking Wednesday morning.
