Girl Scout Dies After School Dance

A San Marcos teenager who died after collapsing at a school dance Thursday has been identified as Sabrina Keller.

Just last month Keller won the award for selling the most Girl Scout cookies in San Diego county.

Medics responded to Woodland Park Middle School  on Rock Springs Road around 9 p.m. according to a Rancho Fire dispatcher.

They found Keller, 14, unresponsive.

A bystander had begun CPR while someone else called 911.

Medics flew Keller to Rady Children's Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Sabrina’s troop leader, Barbara Jehl, learned of Keller’s death and returned to the school Friday morning to talk with news reporters about the scout who she called “real friend-maker.”

“She recruited more girls to our troop than anyone else,” said Jehl. “She was just a nice girl.”

As a prize for selling the most cookies in the county, the Girl Scouts arranged a helicopter ride for Keller.

School is not in session at Woodland Park Middle School due to a teacher development day according to the school's website.
