Santee Residents Advised to Shelter in Place Due to Gas Line Break

A gas line leak has some Santee residents staying inside their homes, fire officials said.

The leak was reported near Mission Gorge Road and Cottonwood Avenue just before 10 a.m. according to the Santee Fire Department.

A construction crew working on a water line project severed a half-inch gas pipeline on eastbound Mission Gorge Road.

The gas line was broken and blowing, officials said.

Residents of the Town Center Apartments near the intersection were advised to shelter in place.

Crews planned to crimp the line to stop the leak and then patch up the road.

There were closures along Mission Gorge Road between Cuyamaca and Magnolia.

At 11 a.m. the repairs were complete.
