Navy Chief Mourns Wife Struck by Car

Woman hit by car while walking her dog

A funeral has been set for a woman who was struck by a car when she was walking her dog in Poway.

Sharlotte Kingston, 36, was pronounced dead at Palomar Medical Center on Sept. 13, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s office.

Medical examiners say a small, white pickup lost control and hit her on Valle Verde Rd. Doctors pronounced her brain-dead two days later.

Kingston is survived by her husband and three children. Her husband is in the military, according to a family-friend.

A viewing for Kingston will be held Thursday evening from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Greenwood Memorial Mortuary on 4300 Imperial Ave. The service and burial will be held Friday morning at 9 a.m. at Greenwood Memorial Mortuary.

Those who attend are encouraged to wear green, as that was Kingston’s favorite color, the family-friend said.

A memorial fund has been set up for the family. People can donate to the Sharlotte Kingston Memorial Fund, account 3028269458 at the Navy Federal Credit Union.
