The Holiday Food Drive kicked off Tuesday with the winner of the Colleges Rock Hunger Food Drive competition.

San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders awarded the team from San Diego State University a life-size electric guitar trophy at a ceremony at the Hard Rock Hotel downtown.

The San Diego Food Bank says the need for food is bigger than ever.

They'll deliver food to 350,000 people in the county this year, up from 200,000 just three years ago

"The thing that's different about San Diego is we take care of each other. Doesn't matter whether it's a fire, doesn't matter what it is, we take care of each other. And that's what communities do, and San Diego is a true community in that respect."

The Chargers will host their annual food drive for the Food Bank at Qualcomm Stadium this Sunday before they take on the Green Bay Packers.

Donations will be collected before the game starting at 10:30 a.m.

The person donating the most food will receive a signed Philip Rivers football.
