Flat Screen TV Stuffed With Pot

Border patrol agents found pot in a television

It gives new meaning to the term high-definition.

Border agents said Wednesday they have seized a flat screen television stuffed with more than $56,000 worth of marijuana at the U.S.-Mexico border crossing at San Ysidro.

A 22-year-old Chula Vista man who was hauling the TV in his minivan was arrested on suspicion of drug smuggling, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said.

Agents say the young man was trying to enter the country Tuesday night when drug-sniffing dogs alerted officers to its contents. Customs agents inspected the television and found 36 cellophane-wrapped packages containing 112 pounds of pot.

Officials say the suspect is an American citizen. His name was not released.
