A fisherman is missing after the boat he was on capsized, according to officials.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. on Monday morning in Mission Beach. A man told police that he and his friend were out fishing, when a wave crashed over their boat capsizing it. He said himself and the man were thrown into the water.

Lifeguards and San Diego fire's helicopter searched for the missing 50-year-old man.

The man says his friend is not a good swimmer, and the last time he saw the victim he screamed the man's name and then went under.

He was rushed to UCSD Medical Center, while Chopper 2 and a Coast Guard helicopter searched for over an hour for the missing man.

The U.S. Coast Guard and other agencies are continuing the search for the 50-year-old man Monday.
