First Lady Michelle Obama to Address California Students

    University of California, Merced students have landed First Lady Michelle Obama as their commencement speaker.

    The White House announced Friday that First Lady Michelle Obama will serve as commencement speaker for two universities, including the University of California, Merced.  

    UC Merced students actively sought out the First Lady as commencement speaker by writing letters to Mrs. Obama, her office, and her friends and family.  Their efforts paid off.  Mrs. Obama will address UC Merced's graduating class on May 16.

    She will also serve as commencement speaker for the high school graduates of Washington Mathematics Science Technology Public Charter, in Washington D.C. on June 3.
