Firefighters Douse 2-acre Grass Fire in Ramona

Firefighters extinguished a 2-acre grass fire not far from downtown Ramona Saturday afternoon, a state fire spokeswoman told The North County Times.

The blaze started at about 1:45 p.m. near 12th and H streets, a few blocks south of the town's Main Street commercial area, the spokeswoman said.

No injuries or damage were reported.

Firefighters from Ramona stopped the fast-moving fire within minutes, said Roxanne Provaznik, spokeswoman for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

Crews remained at the scene Saturday afternoon to douse any remaining hot spots, she said.
