Firefighters Contain Freeway Blaze

El Cajon firefighters responded to a small brush fire near westbound Interstate 8 and Main Street Sunday morning, Heartland fire dispatch officials said.
The vegetation blaze began around 10:40 a.m.
California Highway Patrol officials had to temporarily shut down several lanes on the I-8 as fire crews battled the blaze. They were able to knock down the fire by 11:04 a.m.
Acreage on the fire has not yet been confirmed. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
