A stubborn fire ripped through a Tierrasanta home Tuesday night, destroying the garage, two cars and leaving two people without a place to stay.
Flames leaped out of the front of the home on Portobelo Drive around 10 p.m.
The fire started in the garage and quickly spread to other areas of the house.
“It took us about an hour because of some stubborn spots we were chasing to knock this down completely,” said Battalion Chief Steven Ricci.
The loss of the home and contents stands at an estimated $500,000 according to firefighters.
