A half-acre vegetation fire burned Monday near Sweetwater Reservoir.
Officials with Cal Fire and San Diego Fire-Rescue were called in to the location near Summit Meadow Road in Spring Valley just before 2 p.m.
The road is just north of the South Bay Expressway (State Route 125) and northeast of Sweetwater Regional Park.
A strong onshore wind created dangerous conditions for the fire to take off.
The location on a ridge made it difficult for ground crews to see the boundaries of the fire. Cal Fire said aircraft helped firefighters contain the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
