Fire Near Spring Valley Homes Knocked Down

1/4 acre fire located in empty field

    San Miguel fire officials have knocked down a brush fire burning inside in a field and threatening homes in Spring Valley, Friday afternoon.

    The 1/4 acre blaze was reported to be in an empty field just behind homes in the 8700 block of Valencia Street at about 5 p.m., officials said.

    No injuries were reported and no homes were damaged during the fire.

    The fire was put out sometime after 5 p.m. as firefighters began mopping up the mess, officials said.

    The cause of the fire is under investigation.
