Fire Destroys Home, Not Christmas

Christmas was saved for one City Heights family even though a fire destroyed their home.

Fire crews received reports of a fire in the 4500-block of Dwight Street at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday.

No one was home when the fire started.

But, the owners did come home after the blaze began and were able to save the dog. Their two children, ages 8 and 10, were at school at the time.

The fire was knocked out within ten minutes.

Despite the home's extensive damage, crews put the fire out fast enough to save some of the family's Christmas presents and some clothing.

The fire may have started in the kitchen area according to spokesperson Maurice Luque.
