Fire Damages Lake Murray Home

Mark Leimbach

Fire damaged one home and prompted the evacuation of several others Friday morning in the Lake Murray area of San Diego.

San Diego and Heartland firefighters responded to the fire around 8:30 a.m. Friday at 8741 Verlane Drive near Lake Murray Boulevard and Navajo Road.

San Diego police officers evacuated homes on either side of the residence.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to an office/bedroom located in the back of the home and said they had it under control just before 9 a.m.

San Diego Gas and Electric was sending a crew out to the scene as was the San Diego chapter of the American Red Cross.

No one was home at the time. No word on how many people are displaced as a result of the fire.
