Fire Captain Accused of Molestation

Raul Licon suspended without pay after his arrest Thursday

A Barona fire captain was arrested Thursday on suspicion of molesting a child, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

Raul Licon was arrested in San Marcos Thursday and booked into jail just after noon, a spokeswoman with the department said.

Licon is charged with several counts of molestation, including oral copulation with a person under the age of 18, sodomy with a person under the age of 18, and lewd and lascivious acts with a child.

He posted bail later Thursday night at $250,000.

Licon will be arraigned Monday at 1:30 p.m., according to Steve Walker with the San Diego District Attorney's office.

Licon has been suspended without pay while the charges are pending against him, according to a spokesperson with the Barona Band of Mission Indians.

"We are very concerned with these allegations against Licon, and take these charges very seriously," the spokesperson said.
