Firefighters on Wednesday afternoon knocked down a fire inside an apartment in Scripps Ranch.
The fire in the 9900 block of Erma Road broke out at about 4:15 p.m. The blaze was knocked down about 15 minutes later.
The fire started in the living room of a unit; everyone inside the unit has been evacuated, officials said.
Crews said the fire was sparked by a box of batteries next to a couch.
Officials say the unit is destroyed. A person inside the unit was treated for smoke inhalation; his family says he's OK.
The fire was confined to the one unit.
