Fire Damages Apartments Near Allied Gardens

    Firefighters rushed to the apartments along Mission Gorge Road Thursday afternoon for a garage fire.

    Flames shot through the roof of an apartment complex and damaged two units in the complex near Allied Gardens Thursday.

    San Diego Fire-Rescue crews were called to 3635 Mission Mesa Way around 2 p.m. for a garage fire.

    Firefighters arrived to find the flames spreading from the garage to the inside of one apartment. Officials say a second unit was also damaged.

    Firefighters rushed to the apartments along Mission Gorge Road Thursday afternoon for a garage fire.

    Crews used a ladder to climb atop the complex roof and vent the fire. Residents were gathered nearby watching. No word on how many people will be displaced.

    The nearest cross streets to the complex were Mission Gorge Boulevard and Margerum Avenue.
