Fighting Crime on Law Street

Three neighboring Pacific Beach houses and a fourth house nearby were raided by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for growing marijuana on Wednesday, according to agents.

“We have one gentleman that was arrested that was in possession of two firearms, we have a lot of paraphernalia to sell marijuana, we have other drugs, we have methamphetamine, we have some mushrooms that were seized. So, I would say this is a pretty big deal,” said Special Agent Amy Roderick.

Warrants were served at three homes on Law Street and a fourth on Chalcedony Street.

“Obviously this can go on anywhere. It looks like a nice neighborhood and here you go. There are three growers on one street,” Roderick said.

The investigation started on Chalcedony St.

“And then we located these other groves here,” Roderick said.

Agents found indoor groves at all locations with close to 400 plants.

“This is an illegal operation investigation because of the number, because of the weapons, because of the drugs,” Roderick said.

Gregory Michael Goodwin, 38, Van Carter, 49, Ian Macdonald, 41 and Guillermo Javier Perez, 46 were taken into custody.

The case is being prosecuted by the San Diego District Attorney’s office.
