An Oceanside man was killed in a motorcycle accident early Sunday.
An ambulance driver spotted sparks on the roadway at the transition from northbound Interstate 5 to eastbound State Route 78 around 1:30 a.m.
Soon after, the driver saw a motorcycle crashed in the roadway and the rider slumped over a guardrail according to California Highway Patrol officer Jim Bettencourt.
The ambulance medics attempted to render aid but the rider, identified by the CHP as a 25-year-old man, died at the scene.
Investigators say the unidentified man was riding a 2007 Harley-Davidson.
