Ed. -  At an arraignment on Feb. 29, prosecutors declined to press charges against Renaldo Torres in connection with this incident.

A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal assault Saturday morning outside a Mira Mesa 7-Eleven store.

Renaldo Torres, 26, allegedly punched his 39-year-old friend during a dispute over a taxi cab fare at about 2 a.m. on the 8200 block of Gold Coast Drive.

During the argument, the victim pushed Torres, who punched him back in the head, causing him to fall onto the asphalt, police said. The victim suffered severe head injuries and died Sunday at about 1:30 p.m.

An autopsy has yet to determine the cause of death.

The victim's name has not been released, pending family notification.
