Farmers' Market Headed to El Cajon

The weekly outdoor market is set to kick off Mar. 21 on East Main Street

A brand new farmers’ market will soon set up shop in downtown El Cajon, city officials confirmed.

The El Cajon Farmers’ Market – which was unanimously approved by El Cajon Mayor Mark Lewis and the city council last month – is slated to open on March 21 in the Prescott Promenade located on East Main Street, between Magnolia and Claydelle Avenues.

The farmers market will take place every Thursday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., year-round.

Vendor stands will boast a variety of fresh, locally-grown produce as well as fresh-baked breads and other specialty foods, El Cajon city officials said.

The weekly outdoor market will also offer hot food prepared by chefs and vendors as well as live entertainment, including musical performances, on the main stage.

El Cajon is the latest San Diego County community to host a farmers’ market, following in the footsteps of La Mesa, Pacific Beach, Hillcrest, North Park and Little Italy which all host their own markets week after week.
