Deputies said the beating was unprovoked and apparently happened when the couple's children were home

Deputies were called around 12:30 p.m. to the home along Lado de Loma.

A woman’s ex-husband was arrested Saturday, accused of beating the woman’s new boyfriend with a baseball bat, officials said.

The attack happened around 12:30 p.m. inside a home in the 200-block of Lado de Loma in Vista.

San Diego County sheriff’s deputies said the woman’s ex-husband had been visiting the couple’s children when he picked up a baseball bat and walking into the bedroom where her boyfriend was asleep.

Deputies claim the man repeatedly beat the boyfriend in the head and body.

The suspect, identified as a 42-year-old man, was arrested at the home and charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

The victim who has not been identified was transported to a nearby hospital.
