Ex-Coach Admits Molesting Another Teen
A volunteer high school coach, who was already facing sentencing for sending pornography to a female student, has pleaded guilty to molesting another teenager.
Ryan Paul Carnell 29, a former assistant wrestling coach at Westview High near Rancho Peñasquitos, pleaded guilty Friday to committing a lewd and lascivious act on a 15-year-old girl.
Carnell pleaded no contest in Sept. 2009 to texting a photo of his genitals to a 16-year-old Westview student. At the time, police said there could be more victims.
Carnell was free on bail awaiting sentencing in December when the 15-year-old student accused him of molesting her and he was re-arrested at his home in Rancho Bernardo.
Prosecutor Nicole Cooper said Carnell molested the 15-year-old at an off-campus location in February 2009.
Carnell will be sentenced on both cases June 4. He’s facing a maximum of three years and eight months in state prison, but could get probation.
