Escondido Park Cleanup Planned

Julia Tosic and George Peek talk as they walk along a trail at the south end of Kit Carson Park on Thursday. Escondido officials say they plan to trim the heavy vegetation that lines one side of the trail.

Escondido has organized a brush- and shrub-clearing volunteer effort in southern Kit Carson Park from 9 a.m. to noon this Saturday. The goal is to deprive predators and muggers of places to hide, and to make the park feel safer for users, city officials told the North County Times.

Volunteers will be assigned specific areas by city officials at a canopy in the eastern lot near the southern entrance to the park.

If you're interested in helping, be sure to bring hats, gloves and sunscreen and you should wear long pants and long-sleeved shirts.
