Ellen DeGeneres Seeks Single San Diegans for New Dating Show

Ellen's new "First Dates" dating show will capture the awkwardness -- or magic -- of a first date

TV talk show host Ellen DeGeneres is launching a new reality TV dating show and she’s looking to cast singles out of San Diego.

The new NBC show is called “First Dates,” and aims to capture the honest emotions that come along with a first date – whether that’s downright awkwardness or magic between a pair.

NBC has ordered eight episodes of the series and casting directors are looking for contestants in San Diego, ages 18 to 65, single and genuinely interested in falling in love.

According to producers, the dating show is described as more of an observational show rather than a humiliating dating program. The show has no competitions or eliminations – just a first date and all of the awkward, embarrassing or amazing moments that may come of it.

Single contestants can read the eligibility requirements here and apply for the show on this casting website. Applicants will be asked to answer a series of personal and dating questions, including recounting their best and worst first dates and finishing this sentence: “Dating is like…”
