An elderly woman was tied up and robbed by two men during a home invasion Thursday afternoon in Encinitas.

Sheriffs said the home invasion robbery occurred around 1:36 p.m. at a residence on Rainbow Ridge Lane in the North County.

Upon arrival, deputies learned an elderly resident was in her backyard when two unknown Hispanic males approached her. The men claimed the homeowner owed them money and forced the woman into her residence, according to deputies.

Once inside, the suspects tied up the woman and looked through the house.

They took the victim’s purse and left a short time later.

Sheriffs said the suspects are described as two Hispanic males in their 20s. Both were wearing green jumpsuits.

They were seen driving away from the victim’s home in a silver or grey van.
