An 80-year-old woman was hospitalized after she crashed into a beach house in La Jolla and had to be rescued from her vehicle Monday, confirmed San Diego Fire-Rescue (SDFD).
She suffered a cut on her forehead and complained of chest pains but her injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.
The collision happened around 2:40 p.m. near Ivanhoe Avenue and Torrey Pines Road. The car drove through an intersection, past a yard, and into the house.
Gretchen Hills, the homeowner told NBC 7, the woman trapped in the car looked just like her mother.
"Fortunately, I think she's alright. She's the main priority and she looked just like my mom, exactly," said Hills. "And she had some cuts on her forehead. She said her chest hurt but she was alright."
SDFD crews worked to rescue the elderly person.
"I truly believe as long she's alright, that's the most important thing," said Hills, whose home was damaged in the collision.

At about 3:20 p.m., the woman was successfully removed from the vehicle and taken to Scripps La Jolla for medical treatment.
Hills believe the intersection has design flaws that is leading to more accidents and problems in the area.
"I think this is a terrible intersection. When I moved here in 1966, there was no light, there was no crosswalk, no cars," said Hills.
"I've seen people get hit walking across the street. I've seen at least six or seven accidents here. It's absolutely ridiculous but it's the only entrance to La Jolla."
"It's extremely dangerous for everyone," said Hills. "The house was fine in 1966. It was a beach cottage, it was a darling little house. My parents bought it so I could go to school here."
Hills explained that there are issues with the intersection the city has failed to address.
"Ever since then it's turned into a nightmare," said Hills. "I've asked the city to fix the front here and they never respond. I've asked them six or seven times."
"I want my house fixed because I actually had guests coming in three days, and I would like for them to be able to have a place to come to. So that's my priority is to get my house fixed," said Hills.
The San Diego Police Department was also at the scene. No other information was immediately available.
