4.2 Quake Strikes in Pacific Ocean

People as far away as Alpine and San Marcos reported feeling the earthquake off the coast of Rosarito

A 4.2 earthquake struck after 5 a.m. in the Pacific Ocean off Rosarito but was felt throughout San Diego County.

The U.S. Geological Survey shows light shaking was found across San Diego County from the temblor that struck at 5:13 a.m. PT.

The epicenter was located approximately 40 miles southwest of Imperial Beach and Coronado.

No damage has been reported and the USGS ShakeMap does not show any heavy shaking associated with this incident.

However, in the response section of the USGS website, some people in Alpine, SAn Marcos, Escondido and El Cajon reported feeling the earthquake.
