During Fight, Man Shoots Security Guard Outside La Mesa Bar: PD

When police responded to the scene, they learned there had been several fights in the area recently.

During a fight outside a La Mesa bar, a man pulled out a handgun and shot several cars and a security guard, according to La Mesa police. 

The shooting happened at approximately 1:35 a.m. Sunday when La Mesa police received several calls about gunfire near Jolt N Joe's Bar, located on the 8000 block of La Mesa Boulevard. The location is just south of Interstate 8, near University Avenue in the La Mesa Springs Shopping Center. 

When police responded to the scene, they learned there had been several fights in the area recently. 

During one fight, an unknown man pulled out a handgun near the front of the bar, hitting several cars and injuring one of the bar's security guards, police said. 

The security guard suffered a non life-threatening gunshot to his upper thigh. He was taken to a local hospital. 

The shooting is under investigation. 

Police do not have a detailed description of the suspect. The suspect is described as a man with a bald or shaved head last seen wearing a white polo style shirt. 

The motivation for the shooting is unknown.
