Drunk Dad Off-Roaded with Baby on Board: Police

The North County man faces multiple charges, according to the sheriff's department.

Charles Parker, 34, was arrested Wednesday night in Mountain View Park in Escondido after officers went out to investigate a SUV stuck on a dirt hill, Escondido police Lt. Mike Loarie told the North County Times. Police said Parker had been doing donuts and other off-roading maneuvers with his children -- a baby and two others who are 4 and 6 -- inside the vehicle prior to the officers being called out, according to investigators.

Police said the children's mother took custody of them later.

Parker faces three counts of child cruelty and a driving under the influence charge, according to the sheriff's department. He is being held on $100,000 bail.
