San Diego law enforcement authorities were searching for a driver who crashed into a fire hydrant in a Lakeside condo complex, flooding people's garages overnight.
A silver or gold Chrysler Sebring caused the damage to the hydrant on Laurel Street around 8:30 p.m. Monday, according to California Highway Patrol officers.
Resident Josh Johnson said he thought it was raining but son realized it was a huge geyser.
“I looked out my window to the right and saw this huge fountain of water spraying up,” Johnson said.
“Water shooting about 20 feet high,” he said.
Crews with the Lakeside Water District were at the complex Tuesday morning cleaning up all the mud left behind. They’re also going to repair the hydrant.
A central drain helped to get rid of the water so no homes were damaged, firefighters said.

Although residents say there may be some structural damage.
As it dries up, the drywall is going to be damaged,” said David Allison. “It’s too early for all of that.”
“Life goes on, you got to keep going that’s all you can do,” he said.
CHP said they are searching for the driver and so far, no arrests have been made.
