Mercedes Rolls Down 350-Foot Embankment

A man suffered no visible injuries Monday morning when he drove his vehicle hundreds of feet off a Poway embankment near a Costco shopping center, San Diego sheriffs said.

The driver, 57. whose name was not released, drove his black Mercedes car off a roadway on the 13600 block of Kirkham Way for unspecified reasons after 8 a.m.

The vehicle’s steering-wheel airbag deployed, and the car sustained minor front-body damage.

Drugs were not believed to be a factor in the crash, sheriffs said.

The man was lifted by helicopter from the embankment and transported by ambulance to Palomar Medical Center.

A tow company estimated the car traveled 350 feet down the embankment.
