Driver Rescued After Car Crashes into Store

A woman was trapped after crashing her car into a vacant store early Friday.

Three suites in a strip mall at 542 Broadway in Chula Vista were damaged in the crash.

The car went right through the front of the building smashing into glass, steel and a brick wall.

Chula Vista police say the crash happened just before 1 a.m. in a parking lot across the street from the Chula Vista Center shopping mall.

Chula Vista police and firefighters were called to the scene -- they were able to get the driver out of her car.

She was taken to a nearby hospital but didn't appear to have any visible injuries.

Chula Vista police say she will be arrested for driving under the influence.

They say she appeared to be between 30-40 years old. Her only I-D was a Costco card.

The car was towed from the scene.

This strip mall has a few small clothing stores but several vacant units and the site of the crash is about a half a block away from the street.

There are no skid marks that we could see leading up to the impact, just a big mess that will need a lot of cleanup and repairs.
