The medical examiner's office identifed a man Thursday who died after walking onto a busy street in Santee.
Christopher Raymond Magness, 48, tried to walk across Woodside Avenue Wednesday night. Apparently, he did not look before crossing the roadway and walked into oncoming traffic. Magness died at the scene.
The driver who hit Magness had no time to react, said investigators.
Charges are not pending against the driver and neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to have played a factor.
