Car Catches on Fire After Crash

A car caught on fire in Encinitas Thursday morning after it crashed into an embankment, according to officials.

A 21-year-old Encinitas driver was traveling on northbound Interstate 5 near Manchester Avenue when the car hit an embankment, then rolled over multiple times.

The officers said the car then caught on fire and was fully engulfed in flames. Witnesses were able to pull the driver out of the car, according to CHP.

The driver was transported to the hospital and was conscious when officers spoke to him. They said drugs or alcohol did not pay a part.
