A woman spent 20 minutes trapped after driving off a freeway overpass and crashing on power lines below, police said.
The woman, in her mid-twenties, was driving north on the 125 freeway when, for an unknown reason, she drove off the side of the freeway, crashed into a telephone pole, and then landed on power lines below.
The driver was trapped inside her SUV on Sweetwater Road near Shannonbrook Court in Lemon Grove for about 20 minutes.
Captain Matt Pepin with Heartland Fire says emergency crews used multiple resources including spreaders and a cutter to rescue the driver.
Pepin said she was conscious during the extrication. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.
