Driver Airlifted to Hospital After SR-52 Crash

The driver of a car that lost control and crashed nearly 100 feet from the road was airlifted to the hospital early Friday morning.

The driver was traveling on the SR-52 at Mast Road in Santee at about 1:45 a.m. Friday when the crash happened, according to the Heartland Fire Department.

Authorities said the SUV landed about 100 feet from the freeway. There were no other cars involved.

The driver was lifted to a helicopter to be transported to the hospital. His condition is unknown. 

It is not yet known if drugs or alcohol were involved.
