Motorcyclist, Pedestrian Killed in SR-94 Crash

The motorcyclist crashed into a pedestrian at the freeway on-ramp, and both were killed in the impact

A motorcyclist and pedestrian were both killed in a crash on the transition to eastbound State Route 94 from southbound Interstate 5 Thursday night, California Highway Patrol (CHP) officials confirmed.

According to investigators, a 28-year-old motorcyclist was riding his 2003 Honda CBR southbound on I-5, traveling onto SR-94 just before 10 p.m. At the same time, a transient was walking across the transition road.

As the pedestrian walked in a lane the motorcyclist struck him. The motorcyclist was thrown from his bike, landing on the roadway.

Just then, CHP officials say an 80-year-old man was driving a 2015 Scion XB southbound on I-5 onto the SR-94 transition. The driver crashed into the downed motorcycle, and into the motorcyclist.

CHP officials say both the motorcyclist and pedestrian were killed in the collisions. The elderly driver was not injured.

Authorities have not yet released the names of the motorcyclist and pedestrian. The investigation is ongoing.

All lanes of the connector were shut down to traffic for about six hours overnight as investigators gathered evidence.
