Dog Park Debuts at Mission Valley Mall

A new outdoor space in Mission Valley will have your pooch singing, “Let’s Go to the Mall” before long. You know, if dogs could sing.

The Westfield Mission Valley Mall just got a little more Fido-friendly with the opening of its new dog park.

More than 200 dogs tested out the turf at the new play area during its grand opening this week. San Diego City Councilmember Scott Sherman joined Westfield Mission Valley officials for the “leash-cutting” ceremony, after which pups could enjoy some pampering and free grooming.

The pooches and their owners also jumped in on a DIY leash bedazzling station, photo booth and doggie drinks. A pet psychic was even on hand to dish out free readings.

For those humans who attended the event animal-less, the San Diego Humane Society set up shop with adoptable cuties looking for a new home.

The dog park at Westfield Mission Valley can be sniffed out off Camino del Rio North, right next to Macy’s and the Tilted Kilt. It will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
